Audio Thing – Kontakt Instruments & Synth Patches

Those who are familiar with the site might already know Carlo Castellano. For those who don’t remember him, he’s the guy who did a videosong using only ping pong balls bouncing on instruments. And for those who don’t know him, here’s the video.

Beside making videosongs Carlo is also making Virtual Instruments sold on his website : audiothing.net

AudioThing is a small lab focused on sound design. From the imperfect emulation of acoustic instruments to extreme sonic experiments; from sample libraries to synth patches. We are not aiming for perfection, we seek the feeling behind each instrument or patch we made: we want to focus on other things.

We all know that VST and AU are often very expensive. On AudioThing, the most expensive one is $12, which is… very afordable.

I recently bought one of them, the Pong Glockenspiel. It s a Kontakt Instrument made by recording a toy glockenspiel played with ping pong balls. Yep, like in his video. I’m so enthousiastic about it that I will use it my next videosong.

Edit 12/03: You can see the videosong in which I used the pong glockenspiel (preset: pad2) by clicking here.

The AudioThing’s Virtual Instruments and synth patches are meant to be used with the Native Instrument Kontakt Software. It will work with NI Kontakt Player (free) but sounds edition will be limited.

Here is a demo song of the Pong Glockenspiel

Go take a look at audiothing.net, you will find great Virtual Instruments for your music.

  1. Absolutely fantastic collection! I love the SX1500, the Pong, the MIlkShake…everything. Very rich sounding – (check the TapeStation too!). I would love to see Refills Versions (if possible) of these instruments. A Must have!
